Obituary of Gary Leroy Lindstrom

Gary Leroy Lindstrom passed peacefully on May 17, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup WA. He was born December 10, 1940 in Seattle Washington, the son of Margaret and Harry Lindstrom. He was 80 years old at the time of his passing.

He had four siblings, Rose Marie Hall, Ramona (Sis) Clark, James Lindstrom and Pamela Beyers.

After attending St. Martin's Catholic School in Olympia Wa. Gary went into the US Navy and served 4 years.

Gary married Linda Sherman in August of 1962, Gary and Linda were happily married for close to 60 years.

Gary worked his entire life and ended his career with 40 years at the Port of Seattle, at Sea Tac Airport as an Operating Engineer and a member of IUOE Local 286.

He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend. He will truly be missed.

Gary was a friend to all who met him. He never failed to lend a helping hand or give great advice whether it was to his children or just the neighbor next door. As a “jack of all trades” he was knowledgeable about almost anything especially if it was mechanical. He has many lifelong friends. And there was never a dull moment when he and any of his siblings got together. Many of the stories of past adventures were and are amazing to hear. He will be so greatly missed by everyone who ever has had the pleasure of knowing him.

Services will be held Monday June 14th, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Andrews Church (1401 Valley Ave E.) in Sumner WA.

Following the funeral, there will be a graveside service at Tahoma National Cemetery (18600 SE 240th St.) in Kent at 1pm.

His celebration of life reception will be at Holy Family Church (505 17th ST SE) in Auburn from 2-5pm

Gary is survived by his wife Linda and his children Toni Lindstrom (Barry Motes), Lenae Vander Vies (Jake), Debra Hackman (Jeff) and Richard Lindstrom (Jenny)

His grandchildren children Ryan Sternod, Michael Sternod (Holly), Courtney Kapsandy (Jake), Austin Hackman, Justin Lindstrom, Kirsten Hackman, Thomas Lindstrom, Jacob VanderVies and Olivia VanderVies.

His great grandchildren Keilynn, Dakoda, Kole, Michael Jr and Kade Sternod.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother Margaret, his Father Harry, his sister Ramona. He is survived by his brother James Lindstrom sisters Rose Marie Hall and Pamela Beyers.

How lucky are we to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.
