Lee Vander Pol

Obituary of Lee Vander Pol

On Sunday May 16, 2021 Lee Vander Pol, loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews and Mom to Pooka, her 13 year old Shih Tzu, departed this life to travel one more time to a place she has never been before, Heaven.  There she will be united with her family and friends who were waiting to greet her.  Lee was born on March 23, 1935 on her parent's farm near Crete, Illinois.  Lee was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers, all older than her.

Lee worked as a clerical staff member for Illinois Bell Telephone company for 35 years, before retiring at the age of 54.  Upon her retirement she enjoyed outings to zoos, cross country skiing, and miniature golfing, and visits to the beach with her grand-nieces and nephews.  Lee also loved to travel with her sister, Mary, to Germany and Jamaica.

In 1991 Lee moved from Illinois to the Seattle area, where she enjoyed golfing with her friends, attending Mariners games, and watching college football games sitting in her favorite recliner.  She and her friends enjoyed several cruises to Alaska and Canada.

Lee had a subtle, but great, sense of humor and a cute little smile/smirk when she made her point, which often made us laugh. Her spunky personality and zest for life made her a favorite with her grand-nieces and nephews. Heaven will likely never be the same now that she is there.

Burial will be at Washington Memorial Cemetery on Saturday the 22nd of May at 10:30am.

Should you care to make a donation in her memory, family suggests doing so to Providence Hospice or the Humane Society of Seattle, or to any other charity of your choice.
