I just came across this notice of Pat's passing. I worked for and with Pat in the early/mid 1980's at Old National Bank and we kept in touch through his time at US Bank. He made special visits to my department to say hello and get caught up. He was a very kind and special man and we had a great working relationship and friendship. I am sorry for his passing but am so very glad he had his family close. Lynn Williamson (formerly Riley)

I first met Pat several years ago at St. Charles Borromeo and somehow we ended up talking about baseball and the "old man" league. I had just started playing in a 55 and older division and so, whenever we saw each other after Mass, we'd share stories. He always had a pleasant story and a kind word. I last saw him one morning at our favorite donut shop during the Covid crisis. He was in great spirits. I would have never guessed he was ill. We always joked about what great shape we were in. I'm very blessed and grateful to have met him. I am so sorry for your loss.

Brother John Dornbos posted a condolence

From Brother John Dornbos, one of the O'Dea Christian Brothers.
I have wonderful memories of Pat (and Arliss) and the visit they made to Chicago with the associates years ago. They always remained so loyal and alive, and my prayers and care go to Arliss right now. It was also a joy to meet one of Pat's sons at O'Dea, just a wonderful young man. I think I also visited them in Bar Harbor but it is so long ago I can't remember.
Fr. Tom Marti is also a great friend of mine. I graduated from Boys' Central in Butte, Montana in 1955 the same year that Pat and Tom finished at O'Dea.
A remarkable life and it will lead to a remarkable resurrection.
Prayers and blessings, John

I was a teammate of Pat's on a mens baseball team in the early 1990's, the Rainiers. He was a great teammate and I remember fondly our sports conversations in the dugout during our games. I last saw Pat many years ago when we passed each other on a sidewalk downtown. We stopped and spent a few minutes reminiscing about our time playing baseball together. He was a true gentleman. As a friend for over 70 years, I will miss Pat. He lived such an active life, touching many and making great friends along the way. He loved to compete in baseball and basketball whether at St Benedict’s or O’Dea High School. Pat loved rooting for his teams whether O’Dea, the Huskies, or Seattle U. Of course, celebrating St Patrick’s Day was always important to him. People were always important to Pat. He loved conversation and always had an update on everyone we knew. When asked to lend his talents to the community, he always said Yes and spent countless hours on behalf of Catholic Community Services, The Serra Club or O’Dea High. Can you imagine the number of trips Pat took from Tacoma to Seattle for meetings?
I was blessed to have Pat as a friend and participate with him in many of his activities. He was a great and proud family man and Pat and I always enjoyed being with him and Arliss.
Pat Burns left an important and positive mark during his time with all of us. RIP Burns.

Pat was much loved by the Dominican Sisters from his days at St. Benedict’s and the Sunday morning masses at Rosary Heights. I’m sure Sisters Kathleen and Margaret welcomed him with open arms. Live in peace, Pat. Sister Judy

Pat took a chance on me when I was a young lawyer. He was supportive and genuinely cared about people. In Yiddish there is a phrase that aptly describes him—“mensch “. Rest In Peace.
