Obituary of Michael Spane

Michael “Mick” Spane was born on July 25, 1950 to Al and Dorothy Spane and died peacefully on August 27, 2020.  Upon graduating from Fife High School Mick attended and played football for WWU and earned a master’s degree from PLU.   Mick accumulated lifelong friendships wherever he went.  Mick was beloved teacher, coach, and principal in the Fife School District.  After retirement he was a favorite van driver, planner for golf, hiking, and day/overnight trips for the Kent 55+ Center.  His passions were weekly dinners and activities with his family, hiking, golf, sports, traveling, wine tasting, eating chips-especially Fritos, his home /yard, and hats.  He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church for over 43+ years where he served as Eucharistic minister, Parish Marriage Annulment Advocate and Parish Counsel leader and member for over 12 years.  Mick was actively involved with the Fife/Milton/Edgewood Kiwanis, Swiss Sportsman Club and Swiss Men’s Society.

Mick is survived by his wife Sandy of 43 years, daughter Jen, (Elias), 2 grandchildren, son Jeff, parents Al and Dorothy, brother Tom (Nancy), numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Heartfelt thanks go to the Staff/teams of the UWMC, Harborview Hospital and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.  Mick would not have lived 12 years past his diagnosis without the expert care of all teams at these facilities.   We especially want to thank Dr. Gabriela Chiorean,-SCCA; Dr. Guy Johnson—IR ---UWMC and Dr. Bryan Balmadrid---Harborview.
