Taken from my travel journal on a road trip with Ginny.
"Thursday 7th May 2015 early morning, Grand Canyon. Today Ginny and I stood on the south rim as the morning sun bathed us in its warmth. We stood and watched in awe as the walls around the canyon began to blaze with colour, sometimes sharply and clearly defined, then more subdued in the shadows. It was such an amazing sight and we gazed in wonder and spoke of the mystic quality of nature in all its glory. This has been a very special moment for both of us."
My dear friend was the sweetest and most generous soul. The silver thread that connected us across the Big Pond has at last been broken, but the silver thread that contains all the memories of fun times will be with me forever. How privileged I feel at having Ginny as my friend. Catching up with her on Skype was like picking up a previous conversation a few months before. How I will miss that. The 50 years of our friendship will be sustained in my heart by my journal and photos. God Bless you Ginny. xx

What a lovely tribute to Ginny. I so enjoyed every minute with her and all your words about who she was rings so very very true. I will miss her, as we all will.
it's nice to know she is still sending us positive vibes from her new view.
When I think of her....these words come to mind:
Kind, thoughtful, cheerful, considerate, giving, calm, loving.
Just a lovely person. The world is a little less gentle without her on the planet.
Love....Dennis

It’s so hard to say good-bye to my friend and cropper Ginny! She passed Friday morning after a long battle with cancer.
She was a wonderful daughter (I remember her working so hard on her mom’s 100th birthday scrapbook), she was a fabulous wife of 55 years and mother to a daughter and son (we saw lots of photos and heard lots of stories about her family while she was creating her family albums); she was an adoring grandmother of 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons ( below with her oldest Granddaughter’s “going off to college” scrapbook in case she got homesick). She was a prayerful and faithful woman who attended her church regularly and, taught at and was on the board of, the pre-school that her church housed...
She knew EVERYBODY! When someone new would come down the stairs in my Crop room she would say, “Oh hi Mary” or “Oh hi Janet” even though she hadn’t seen them in years. I called it “the 6 degrees of Ginny”. She was connected to so many people and had so many friends...
She was an amazing friend. She had a friend that she met for lunch WEEKLY FOR 40 YEARS! When that friend’s husband died, Ginny would go spend the night with her to keep her company. She was same age as my parents, but she was my friend too! She was SO wise and a GREAT listener. She was honest. She would tell you what she thought in a way that you could hear it, without being preachy or pushy. I so appreciated that quality of hers and it will be one that I will miss so much.
I was always impressed how determined she was with her photos. (For months and months she went through her slides and would have me scan and print the ones she wanted for her family albums.) She was slow and steady and kept coming to my workshops every Tuesday when she was healthy and when she was in town. She just plugged away at it! She laughed when I would say “we are striving for excellence, not perfection Ginny...”
She was loving. Last Thursday many of us got “Ginny’s Last Note” in our email, telling us how much she loved us and how much we meant to her....
It was so hard to see her sick and so hard to see pass and know that she will never be coming down my stairs ever again with her husband “the Sherpa” in toe carry all of her supplies, but I’m so glad she’s not suffering anymore.
RIP “Mrs. C” and thank you for the many blessings you brought into our lives, especially my life. Our lives have been SO much richer for having known you and your love. God bless you.
