Doris (Torgerson) Rumpf

Obituary of Doris May (Torgerson) Rumpf

Doris May (Torgerson) was born on May 19, 1924 in Climax Saskatchewan; a place always close to her heart. She was 11 years old when her family moved to Puyallup, Washington and she spend the rest of her life in Washington.

She was the youngest and only daughter to Arthur and Julia Torgerson and a sister to Clarence, Wilfred, Earl, Palmer and Roy and a half-sister to Isabelle Gannon and Jim Gannon. She was the last surviving member of her family. Doris was married twice, first briefly to Ken Anderson and later to Dale Rumpf for 17 years.

Doris graduated from Sumner High School in 1942 and went on to a business school where she finished at the top of her class. Her working career eventually led to becoming the Comptroller of the Seattle Tennis Club and she retired from there after many years of service. She was active in her church, Westminster Chapel in Bellevue, and enjoyed many happy years in her beautiful home in Bellevue, Washington. Doris resided at University House in Issaquah after the sale of her Bellevue home and later moved to Madrona Park in Federal Way.

Doris is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She particularly close to Wyatt Goldsmith the son of her niece, Lori Goldsmith and devastated by his death while in Afghanistan as an Army Special Forces medic.

Thanks go out to the staff at both University House and Madrona Park for the care they provided to Doris.

Doris loved to read, to entertain and to dance, but most of all she loved to laugh. Her smile would light up a room. She will be sorely missed.
