Obituary of Dorothy Atkinson

Dorothy Atkinson passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on June 13, 2020. She was born on March 1, 1931 in Spangle Washington to Gordon and Marjorie Green. She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Marjorie Green, her husband John Herman and her brothers Leslie Green and Ronald Green. Dorothy is survived by her brother Edward (Jan) Green and her three sons, Frank (Suellen), Rick (Sarah) and John (Gail). She had 6 grandchildren: Sarah, Amy, Christina, Timothy, Matthew and Anna and 2 great-grandchildren: Aurora and Benjamin. Dorothy grew up in Spangle and graduated from Spangle High School. She enjoyed the beauty of nature and appreciated what she had. She learned to work hard and never let anything go to waste. After several years in Spokane, Dorothy made Federal Way her home. She loved a good social event or gathering and was always up for a card game or dominos. In 1997, Dorothy married John Herman. Dorothy and John enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and working in their garden. Dorothy also loved sewing, quilting and various crafts which included annual Christmas ornaments. She lived in the Twin Cedars community for over 30 years where she actively participated in their social events and made life-long friends. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Due to COVID-19 memorial services are yet to be determined.
