Larry Larimore

Obituary of Larry Larimore

Larry Larimore passed away peacefully at home, on June 2, 2020 in Puyallup, at the age of 90 of natural causes.

Larry was born in Havre, Montana in 1930 to his parents Ernest and Lucy and lived in Big Fork, Montana.  Flat Head Lake was his favorite place on earth.  In 1940, the Larimore family moved to Tacoma, Washington.  In 1948, Larry graduated from Lincoln High School and took a job at Star Iron & Steel Company where he worked until he joined the U.S. Air Force in November of 1950.  Larry served during the Korean War as an airplane mechanic and was stationed in Hawaii.

After the war ended, he moved back to Tacoma where he met his beautiful wife, Sandy.  They were married on September 7, 1956, moved to Puyallup and had 3 children, Mike, Larry and Jennie.

After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Larry took a job at Rohr Industries, an aircraft engine manufacturing company in Auburn, WA.   Larry remained at Rohr until he retired in 1987 at the age of 57.

Right away at Rohr Industries, Larry met his best pals, Bill and Jean Irey.   The Larimores and the Ireys remain best friends to this day and live 3 houses apart from one another.

Larry loved camping, hunting and fishing and planned every yearly vacation around these activities with the Ireys and his family.   He loved to skeet shoot and as long as he was able, went often with his son’s, grandson Matt, brother Bob and friend’s Leo and Bud.

Larry was a do-it-yourselfer, who loved to help anyone who needed assistance building anything.   Workbenches, fences, kitty-cat houses; anything you wanted.  If you needed something fixed, Larry was your man.  He loved to maintain his homes, two of which were on several acres and did all the maintenance, landscaping and painting himself, until just a few years ago.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Mike Larimore; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Valerie Larimore; daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Kevin Haugen; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Justin and Allison Larimore; granddaughter-in-law, Danielle Larimore; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace and Rylan Matthew.  Larry was welcomed to heaven by his dad, Ernest, his mom, Lucy and his brothers and sister; James, Dallas, Dave, Bart, Bob and Georgia; and his grandson, Matthew Allen Larimore.

Larry will be laid to rest at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup WA on June 9, 2020.

The Larimore family is eternally grateful to the following organizations who showed us incredible support during the last few months, allowing us to be together no matter what.   Harborview Medical Center, CHI Franciscan Hospice, Sound Options and The Truss Company, Sumner WA.
