Lydia Ostle

Obituary of Lydia Ostle

Lydia Ostle was born on November 23rd, 1947 in Kentfield, CA to John and Lavonia Cagle.  She was the only girl out of 13 children.  Her Dad was in the military so the family moved around a lot.  She had a unique opportunity to study in Verdun, France while they were stationed there.  She graduated from Stanton High School in Stanton, TX.  She met Joe Ostle in Big Spring Texas, and they were married on April 21st, 1973.  They had 4 daughters, Mona, Paula, Katrina and Angela.  Lydia worked in Civil Service for 27 years.  She truly enjoyed her job and was proud of her accomplishments.  She was even more proud to be called Nana by her grandchildren, Hunter, Gavin and Mason.  She enjoyed watching them grow and participating in their extra-curricular activities.

Family was her number one priority.  She was a very loving woman who welcomed everyone with open arms.  She had many people who she considered her adopted children.  The first time you came to her home you were a guest after that you were family.  She loved hosting summer BBQ’s where there was never a shortage of her famous “Lydia Burgers”.

Lydia lived by the moto that a stranger is just a friend that you haven’t met yet.  She talked to everyone about everything.  She loved to brag about her daughters and grandchildren to anyone who would listen.

Lydia was baptized into the Catholic faith shortly before her marriage.  Her faith gave her strength over the years as she dealt with her health condition.  Lydia passed away on Saturday, April 25th, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.  She is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, Stepmother and 3 brothers.  She is survived by her husband, Joe Ostle, daughters Mona Sullivan (Jason), Paula, Katrina, and Angela (Amanda) and 3 grandsons Hunter, Gavin, and Mason.

Due to the current COVID19 pandemic we are unable to have a public viewing and service at this time.  Lydia will be laid to rest at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington, WA.
