Donna M. (DeTray) Anderson

“Grandma Donna” 1929-2020

Donna was born in Crosby, North Dakota to Edwin & Bernice DeTray on April 23,1929.  She left us peacefully on January 16, 2020.  The family is eternally grateful for all the love and support Donna received at Stafford Suites and from Franciscan Hospice Care.  Preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl of 57 years, brother Darrel and granddaughter Melissa.  She is survived by brother Paul, son Randy, daughters Vicki & Terri and their spouses, 9 grandkids & 14 great grandkids.  Donna was a proud graduate of Puyallup High School where she was a cheerleader and majorette.  Donna attended Pacific Lutheran University.  Donna & Carl had 3 children who they raised in Sumner, where she has lived for 70 years.  Donna had 2 careers; the first as an early woman entrepreneur running three popular drive-in’s that were well known for their great hamburgers, fries and extremely thick milkshakes.  Her second career was as a successful Real Estate Agent for 35 years.  Donna loved the Lord, her family and friends.  Donna enjoyed living life to the fullest; including trips to the ocean, to Reno, cruises to Alaska, going out to dinner and especially getting to dance!  Her favorite hobby was to shop till she dropped and as a result always looked like a fashionista.  Donna enjoyed being active in the Catholic Church and looking good while singing in their choir.  Donna was a proud past member of the local P.E.O. chapter that promoted young women in the community.  Most of all, Donna deeply loved and was extremely proud of her family.  Family gatherings and spending time with her loved ones was always a highlight, especially time with her great grandchildren.  A viewing will be held on Tues. Jan. 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home, 217 E. Pioneer Ave. Puyallup.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Wed. January 22, 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1401 Valley Ave. E. Sumner. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery.  Arrangements by Curnow Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
