Mary Petty

Obituary of Mary Jane Petty

Mary Jane was born on 8/30/1941 in Medina NY and passed away on 12/18/2019 in Puyallup WA. Her parents Arthur Petty and Mary Polvino and her two older brothers Arthur and Oliver proceeded her in death.

She is survived by her widow, Charlene Weaver, her nephews Philip, Thomas, Warren and Jeffery, her great nieces and great nephews and many, many cousins and friends.

She joined the US Army in 1974 and served until 1987. She spent most of her time at Ft. Gordon GA where she was an instructor at the Signal School. She also served in Germany where she enjoyed traveling in her time off.  After leaving the Army, she moved to Dallas TX, and then ended up in Roswell NM where she worked for MCI as an Outside Field Technician for 13 years.

She moved to Bonney Lake in 2003 and lived with her wife and their many cats and dogs which was a very different life for the "crazy cat lady" who claimed to not like dogs!

Mary Jane enjoyed traveling and long distance car trips were one of her favorite ways to travel in order to see as much of this country as possible. She only missed traveling to 5 states, North Dakota, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She also liked cruising and went to Alaska 3 times and Hawaii once on cruises.

She liked to give back and volunteered with American Legion Post 67 in Puyallup, Greyhound Pets of America - Greater Northwest and the Mom and Me Mobile Medical Clinic.
